Established in 1863, Gujaratmitra completed a glorious 150 years of its existence in September 2013. A very few newspapers in the whole country have had the privilege of claiming this rare distinction of having successfully achieved this feat. The Gujaratmitra in spite of many ups and downs, financial crisis' and amidst the changing political scenario during all these years has managed to survive all odds and come up an unscathed winner. It has all along upheld its balanced policies of fearless, unbiased and dependable reporting and continues to do so even today.

The Gujaratmitra has traversed through the sands of time for the past century and a half and has been a part and parcel to everything that has happened during these years in and around the city, state, nation and the world. The Gujaratmitra is immensely popular in the South Gujarat region which includes the financially prosperous city of Surat and industrial towns like Vapi, Valsad, Navsari, Bardoli, Bharuch and Ankleshwar while making rapid strides in Central Gujarat covering Vadodara, Panchmahal, Dahod-Godhra, Kheda & Anand.
